Mary A. (Ford) Macnamara

Macnamara, of New Britain Township, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at her residence. She was 81. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Macnamara for 46 years, until his death in 2009.Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (Concannon) Ford. She was a 1953 graduate of Little Flower High School, Philadelphia. Mrs. Macnamara was a homemaker. She was an active member of St. Jude Parish Catholic Church, Chalfont. Mary had loved shopping and trips to the shore.Mrs. Macnamara is survived by her children, Maria E. Hawkins and her husband, Mark, of Churchville, and Joe J. Macnamara and his wife, Tracy, of Perkasie; a brother, Michael Ford, of North Wales; and two grandchildren, Joshua Daniel and Nicholas Joseph. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne B., in 2008, and three brothers, William, James, and Daniel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church, 321 West Butler Avenue, Chalfont, PA 18914, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Macnamara’s name may be made to Smile Train, 41 Madison Avenue, 28th Floor, New York, NY 10010.

Y., a long time harness racing horseman in Western New York, passed away on February 5, 2017 at the age of 82.Mr. Torre competed at Buffalo Raceway and Batavia Downs over the years as a owner, trainer and driver, and was a member of the Western New York Harness Horseman's Association.Born on May 24, 1934, Mr. Torre was the husband of the late Betty Jane Torre, father of Andrew (Kristen) Torre, Michael (Roslyn) Torre and Carolyn (Todd) Reynolds. He was also the grandfather of Bryna, Nicole, Isabelle and Camille and the brother of James (Diane) Torre and Catherine Torre. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.Visitation will be on Tuesday (Feb. 7) from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel) on 885 Niagara Falls Boulevard near Eggert/Sheridan Drive.A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Torre will be celebrated at St.Christopher's Church at 2600 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Tonawanda on Wednesday (Feb. 8) at 9:30 a.m. Please assemble at the church. Frederick M. Ludwig, of Upper Southampton, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. Fred was 92.He was the son of the late Mary Haines and Fred E. Ludwig. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Rita Dale; nephew, George Alden (Eileen); nieces, Mary Frances 'Susie' Davis (James), and Regina Schuster (Frank); and stepson, Dr. John W. Lewellen (Martha). Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa.Fred entered the U.S. Marine Corps at age 18. He was a veteran of Iwo Jima, who was honorably discharged as a sergeant in March of 1946. Shortly thereafter, he began working at the Reading Railroad Company, starting as an office boy and ending his career with them as district sales manager for the eastern seaboard.After living in Huntingdon Valley for 30 years, he moved to Southampton Estates in August of 2001. As a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, he was actively involved in parish life, including helping with the parking, teaching CCD classes, running the Parish Carnival for several years, being the lector or Extraordinary Minister, and being the altar server at Mass. His life revolved around his Faith put into action by his desire to serve.Fred served the broader community also, both in the annual Southampton Days Carnival bingo tent ('Uncle Fred') for many years, as emcee for the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, and as the 'Voice' of the Southampton Community Band for over 10 years, where his intermission jokes were legendary.He served Southampton Estates as vice president of their residents' association, and worked on several committees throughout his years there. He was instrumental in the collection of used clothing from the residents for the benefit of St. Francis Inn in Kensington, and very recently was actively collecting and delivering contributed food items to the Jesus Focus Ministries food bank in Southampton. For over 20 years, he delivered donated baked goods to Face to Face in Germantown.Fred's desire to help whenever, wherever, and whoever was also legendary.
